One of the biggest names in hip-hop, Nas was famously in a feud with another musical mogul, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jay-Z[/lastfm], but his personal history is a lot more profound than some inflammatory lyrics towards Hova.
The song talented jazz musician [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Olu Dara[/lastfm], Nas grew up in Brooklyn playing the trumpet, listening to hip-hop, and educating him on the African culture and Islam. In 1992, MC Serch approached Nas about a hip-hop career and he was subsequently signed to Columbia Records before his first album, 1994′s Illmatic, was released to much critical acclaim. Since then Nas has put out more than eleven albums, including his most recent collaboration with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bob Marley[/lastfm]‘s son, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Damian Marley[/lastfm]. Marley and Nas will be performing together at Coachella.
