Live from Atlanta, BET held it’s 2011 Hip Hop Awards event at the Atlanta Civic Center on Saturday, October 1st. Though there wasn’t a huge Young Money presence from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lil Wayne[/lastfm], or [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Drake[/lastfm]; there was still plenty of excitement including special appearances, performances, and iconic legends to make the show enjoyable! The Red Carpet event was hosted by Miami hip hop artist Ace Hood while the actual show was hosted by funny man Mike Epps!

This year hip hop icon [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]LL Cool J [/lastfm]was honored for his lifetime achievement with hip hop receiving the ‘I Am Hip Hop’ Award. The award was presented to by fellow rapper [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nelly[/lastfm]. The performers this year are some of the best at any hip hop awards show. You can expect to see performances from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]DMX[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Swizz Beatz[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Erykah Badu[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Big Sean[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lupe Fiasco[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Heavy D[/lastfm], and more! Fresh out of jail, Atlanta rapper T.I. made a special appearance and performance with Young Jeezy. Also, Busta Rhymes picked up the ‘REESE’S Perfect Combo’ award as well as the award for the ‘Sweet 16 Best Featured Verse’.

Another huge deal at the BET Hip Hop Awards is always the hip hop cyphers. This year BET composed the cypher with some indie hip hop heads that we all know such as [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]French Montana[/lastfm], Jay Rock, and Sean Cross, along with some newcomers like XV, Gilbere Forte, Wais P, and more.
