The word is Tyler Perry is the new owner of the bankrupt American Airlines and is giving it the bold new name of African American Airlines! Is it true?

DALLAS – Tyler Perry reportedly made an offer to buy American Airlines. They accepted. The new airline: African-American Airlines.

The Texas-based AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, announced that the company filed petitions for Chapter 11 reorganization in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, “in order to achieve a cost and debt structure that is industry competitive and thereby assure its long-term viability and ability to continue delivering a world-class travel experience for its customers.”

WWN has learned that wealthy actor-director Tyler Perry has made an attractive offer for American Airlines. The offer, said to be near $5 billion dollars, was quickly accepted by the airline.

“Mr. Perry made a bold, brilliant move… he is the smartest mogul in the county,” said a source close to American Airlines. ”No other businessman in the country had the guts to try to bail out the biggest airline in the United States.”

Perry, the creator of the “Madea” character and the “House of Payne” sitcom, reportedly plans to rename American Airlines – African-American Airlines. The new Perry run airline will be targeted to African-American passengers, but industry experts say that many white, asian and latino passengers will want to fly the airline, “just to be cool.”

I don’t think this is true because if he had purchased the airlines, it would have been on ALL the major networks and ALL (or at least some) of the reliable news sources sites, not to mention Tyler Perry himself or his PR person would have probably released a statement.

Way to go, its about time our Black American Millionaires do something good for a change. I agree he is “the smartest mogul in the country. ” Many more need to get on board and stop wasting your money on unecessary things, like “women and a good time.”

I think it’s wonderful, that a African American is able to own one of the most popular companies in the world, but changing the name wouldn’t be a good move. Mr. Perry will have to keep the customers that the airline already has and do what it takes to gain more. I’ve only traveled with Spirit but when I read about Mr. Perry buying out American Airlines I decided right away that I will book my flight with them at the end of the month. When I read that the name of the airline would be changed to, African American Airlines I decided to stick to the airline I already know. THINK ABOUT IT?

I agree with you about the name change because of the the name he chose, but just like any business who obtains another business or in this case someone buying out a failing business you have to change the name unless your willing to pay for the exsisting name also. As the new owner (if this is true) TP doesn’t have any rights to the name American Airlines unless its part of the deal which I doubt, although I am African American I disagree with the name picked.

I think this is wonderful, b/c we have been put down so much and for so many years. This lets people know that there is no difference in the skin color. It’s all about what you do with your life and how you present it.

First of all Tyler Perry does not have 5 billion dollars. That would make him richer than Oprah Winfrey. Second, to name it African American Airlines would not be the best marketing strategy. Third and last you would never have to worry about missing your flight. As Dick Gregory stated, “We leave late, but we’ll get you there on time!”

I love that he bought the airlines, I just hope that it is done with class and dignity. I think often we (african Americans) do things with great intentions, but that is not always the case. I know that happens in every race. I don’t understand why all races could not ride this airline! I don’t think just because it was named AAA it will be only accept one race. I also hope that it is made affordable.

I sincerely hope that it is true i would love to see perry with his own airline trump did it, but as a 15 year flight attendant black people do not fly enough to gear an airline around us. AAA would go under faster than a sinking ship if thats his plan.
