This week’s episode of Glee features classic ballads and a few Broadway hits that will hopefully help New Directions get out of a funk after losing Sectionals.
But most importantly it features a dance-off between Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and her very mean dance teacher Cassandra played by Kate Hudson.
The two rivals take on “All That Jazz” from Broadway’s Chicago showing off not only their impressive jazz hands, but their killer gams.
All that practice seems to have paid for Rachel, but will it pay off in the result of a golden envelope for NYADA’s Winter Showcase? A preview shows her receiving the coveted invite, but it’s hard to tell whether she’s dreaming or not.
We do know that she sings Barbra Streisand’s “Being Good Isn’t Good Enough,” which gives the perfectionist a chance to show off her impressive pipes. But good just isn’t good enough for Rachel, she’s got to be the best.
Kurt gets a chance to shine too with his solo on “Being Alive” from the 1970 musical Company. Did he get a golden envelope too? Is that even possible if he hasn’t been accepted to NYADA yet?
Sue and Finn are also butting heads as the Cheerios coach looks to steal the rehearsal space and use it for her cheerleading side project the French Canadian circus-inspired venture, Sue Du Soleil.
We don’t know who wins out, but Finn and the rest of New Directions tackle Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over” singing the words “there is a freedom within, there is freedom without.”
Is this the swan song the episode is named after? You’re going to have to watch tonight to find out.
