When it was announced yesterday that Alicia Keys had been named as BlackBerry Global Creative Director, it didn’t take long before Twitter lit up with hilarious reactions to the appointment announced during the reveal of the company’s latest device, the BlackBerry 10.

It’s still unclear as to exactly what the position of Global Creative Director means and what part Keys will play in trying to revive the struggling company. BlackBerry’s once popular devices have recently been significantly overshadowed by the iPhone and Android devices.

Keys was the first to take to Twitter to say:

She also revealed at the press conference that she had dumped BlackBerry for the iPhone initially, but was excited about the reconciliation, saying, “Now we’re exclusively dating again, and I’m very happy.”

Twitter users found plenty of ways to poke fun at the “Girl On Fire” singer, often using her own songs as the punchline.

Keys is definitely on fire. This Sunday she will be performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl and she has also just been announced as a performer at the GRAMMYs on February 10th.
