In case you were living under a rock the last few years, Katy Perry is one of the most successful female artists in the history of ever.
She’s the only female to have 5 number 1 hit singles off of the same album. The only other artist to do that was Michael Jackson with Bad.
So what does someone do when there’s this exuberant amount of pressure? You write.
Katy recently told Vogue magazine, “When I am in between records, sometimes I doubt myself,” she said. “I’ll be like, ‘Did I just get lucky, or did I mass-manipulate the world into thinking that seven songs were worth a number-one position?’”
“And then I go back into the studio and I start writing, and the true essential oil of who I am comes bubbling back up and reminds me that it’s always been inside of me, that nobody can take this away no matter what comment anyone makes. It’s going to be there because it’s what I was born with and it’s what I’ve worked on my whole life.”
So it sounds like Katy is working on quite the follow up album to Teenage Dream, which as of today (June 24, 2013) has sold over 20 million copies globally.
