For her #30Gold series, the Brooklyn rapper has moved on to Lana Del Rey with her unsuspecting estival hit “Summertime Sadness”, which adds a little more bounce to the melancholy song.
The track took some heat around the VMAs based on the perception that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis spoke on behalf of a community they don’t actually belong to.
“The album tells a lot of different stories from my life and growing up,” she said. “It’s about growing up and coming into your own. For me that was going through a lot of different struggles as a kid.”
